The importance of financial planning cannot be overstated. UWI-ROYTEC recognizes the need to facilitate on-going financial literacy training presented in a format that can be adapted by a diverse student population. The Financial Literacy Series provide the necessary development support for students, and empower them to ask the right questions and make appropriate decisions regarding all aspects of their financial life.
The Financial Literacy series is comprised of the following three sessions conducted over the course of one academic year: The Financial Planning Process, Money Management – Making Wise Financial Choices, and Introduction to Credit, Income Taxes and Investment. These workshops are conducted by Certified Financial Planners.
The Career Development Series includes four workshops, conducted in the following order: CV & Résumé Building, Successful Job Search, Interview Preparation and Workplace Protocol. These workshops cover pertinent information that will guide students through essential areas of career development.
Referencing and citing are important components of academic writing. Stylistics, in-text citation and references are just some of the aspects that are regulated by referencing and citation style. Failure to reference your work can result in allegations of plagiarism or academic dishonesty.
UWI-ROYTEC uses two formal methods of referencing academic work: The American Psychological Association (APA) citation style and the Modern Language Association (MLA) style.
MLA: The MLA (Modern Language Association) style is most commonly used to write papers and cite sources within the liberal arts and humanities. Students are encouraged to attend this session, as this is the approved method for written presentations at UWI-ROYTEC.
APA: The APA (American Psychological Association) Referencing is the approved style for written presentations for all the University of New Brunswick programmes (BBA, B.Ed. and M.Ed). Students are encouraged to attend this session, as all UNB academic work must be referenced using the APA Style.
Students are encouraged to attend the Writer's Workshops as it offers essential academic referencing guidelines.
The Academic Success Workshop is designed to orient students to proper practices that will enhance their academic learning. Students are guided on how to manage their time, assess and understand their learning style and enhance their note-taking, reading, studying and test-taking skills.
The Entrepreneurship Workshop is designed to help students conceptualize their own business. The workshop covers idea evaluation, identifying opportunities, the marketing plan and business financing.
