Teacher Professional Development Programmes

UWI-ROYTEC has earned a reputation as a preferred tertiary level institution with an outstanding track record in teacher preparation and professional development. We are recognized as a national leader in applied learning and specialized training, empowering all learners to develop to their fullest potential. 

Building on the institution's strategic mandate, UWI-ROYTEC has provided professional development training for teachers in the area of special needs education since 2018.  Since then, more than one hundred and seventy (170) teachers have participated in six (6) different workshops.  We continue to promote an inclusive approach to education, where recognition and acknowledgement is given to diverse perspectives and realities of children with special needs. 

Sensitization workshops are designed for education professionals and policymakers in the following areas:

  • Writing Individual Educational Plans.
  • Interpreting Psycho-educational assessments.

  • Develop a healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging learning environment for all children.

  • Positive parenting.
  • Working with children of unique vulnerabilities
  • Online and remote learning for students with disabilities
