UWI-ROYTEC recently held its inaugural Faculty Convocation to usher in the start of the Academic year 2015/2016. Featuring a theme- 'A Call to Deliver - Applied Studies in Action', members of Faculty came out in their numbers to be honoured and recognised for their contribution to UWI-ROYTEC over the past years.

The event began with UWI-ROYTEC's Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jennifer Lavia, who reiterated UWI-ROYTEC's commitment to ensuring impactful and beneficial programmes that produce work-ready graduates and enhance professional career development. This was elaborated upon by UWI-ROYTEC's Executive Director, Ms. Wendy Augustus who, in her presentation, emphasised the crucial role that Faculty plays in achieving the organisation's Vision of being the Tertiary Institution of choice for applied studies. The keynote speaker, Dr. Claudia Harvey would then begin churning the imagination of the Lecturers present as she delivered on the afternoon's theme- "A Call to Deliver - Applied Studies in Action". The focus of her presentation was the importance and benefits to the student population of lecturers ensuring that their teaching content and style is applicable in today's competitive work environment. Special guest performer, Stephen John serenaded the gathering with a medley of classics, much to the enjoyment of the ladies.
The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Awards to seven (7) members of Faculty who served UWI-ROYTEC since its inception as RBTT Roytec in 1987. These members were Mrs. Carol Charles Austen, Ms. Maureen Bowen, Mrs. Janine Grovesnor-La Pierre, Mrs. Rhona Henry-Flores, Dr. Allan Mckenzie, Mr. Harold Pulwarty, Mr. Dave Williams. Also receiving a special award was Mr. Harold Pulwarty who is the longest serving subject in the field of Politics, Psychology and Sociology.
